Colby was born and raised on a small farm in southern Iowa. On the farm, Colby’s parents instilled the core values of integrity and selflessness. He graduated from Moulton-Udell High School in May of 1999. Colby then transplanted to the University of Kentucky, graduating in 2006 with a degree in Marketing, Management and a minor in International Business.
During college, Colby worked for a small mortgage company in Lexington handling customer follow up and marketing. This led him to Wells Fargo Financial in Louisville. Even though Colby yearned to return to Iowa, he was transferred to Virginia Beach for 8 months. From there, he continued to climb the corporate ladder and was promoted again to branch manager of a Wells Fargo Financial branch located in Towson, Maryland. When Wells Fargo closed its Financial locations, Colby saw the perfect opportunity to return to Iowa after being away for almost 9 years. Colby took a position with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage as a Mortgage Consultant in December of 2010.
After years in the corporate mortgage world, Colby joined Gershman Mortgage in May of 2015 because of Gershman’s similar dedication to customer service and integrity. With almost a decade of experience, Colby brings a dedication to Gershman’s core values and mission of Get Educated, Not Sold.
In addition to similar core values, Colby also appreciates Gershman’s commitment to the mortgage lending industry, which can be seen though its marketing efforts and price competitiveness. Colby also realizes that Gershman Mortgage’s commitment to regional, seasoned underwriting and closing staff allows his customers and realtors to continue to expect a high level of service that they have enjoyed in the past.
Colby takes great pride in assisting realtors and referral partners grow their customer bases. He also enjoys working with his personal customers in matching their needs with appropriate financing alternatives.
Outside of Gershman Mortgage, you can find Colby seeking the next big adrenaline rush on the snowboard slopes in Colorado, paddling his way through the Boundary Waters, competing in various road races and half marathons, among the throngs of riders biking in RAGBRAI, or volunteering at the Food Bank of Iowa.
